When to Schedule Your Newborn Session

Preparing for a newborn can be almost as exhausting as having a newborn. With immediate access to advice on the internet, and not so solicited advice from friends and family, you can quickly become overwhelmed by checklists and must haves. Once you are home, feeding and figuring out when to sleep are the top priorities and before you know it, the over-exhausted parents barely closed their eyes and the first month has gone by. You look at your spouse and say, BABE! Our once tiny newborn is quickly growing and changing, I wish we had scheduled newborn portraits. First step, reach out to a newborn photographer.

I have taken on newborn portraits at 8 weeks of age and we were able to capture squishy posed portraits!! It is never too late to let to contact a photographer and set realistic expectations for your session, based on your child’s age. To avoid any last minute stress of finding and booking a photographer, it is best to schedule your session in your second trimester. This gives you the peace of mind that your due date is secure for your photographers schedule and gives you the opportunity to discuss a First Year Collection and maternity portraits as well!

Clients often ask, what if my baby is not born on his/her due date? Securing your due date means that your photographer will only take on a set amount of newborn sessions per month to ensure that you are the top priority and offer flexibility with scheduling. I look forward to working with you and your sweet little babe!
